摘要:Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is a warm area of research. WSNs consist of large number ofsensor nodesdeployed randomly in the sensor field. But, it sufferswith several shortcomings such as energy imbalance, processing power, storage, transmission rangeand mitigates energy hole problems. Therefore it’sa tough task to design and develop an optimized routing protocolfor WSNs.Hence, this research papermainly focuses on the energy consumption and network lifespanissues of WSNs and presents an improved version of Distributed Energy-Efficient Clustering (DEEC) protocol. To enhance the network lifetimeand reliability of DEEC protocol, three improvements are incorporated in thealgorithmand the proposed algorithm named as improved DEEC (IDEEC). From experimentsection, it isstated that proposed improvements make protocol more robust and efficient in terms of lifetime of nodes, stabilityand energy consumption in comparison to other algorithm being compared.
