摘要：Objective: The purpose of this study wa s to assess saving habits of the community residing in the zonal cities through various saving mechanisms and its determinants in Amhara National Regional State, Ethiopia . Methods : A cross - sectional study was conducted among households from zonal cities of the Region . Logistic regression with forward likelihood selection method was used to identify the determinant factors associated with saving status. Findings: A total of 1059 participants were enrolled . Of these 658 (62.1%) were having saving s while 469 (56.2%) of the r espondents saved their money in Bank s . In the multi - covariate analysis, respondents who se educational status was first degree and above, whose employment status was businessmen, who is head of the household, who had very good current living status and who use alcohol sometimes were significant predictors for increased saving habit at the 5% significance level . Conclusion : T he magnitude of saving habit in our study was high. Educational level, t he society ' s employment status, relation to head of household, effect of weather condi tion and current living status were identified as the factors influencing the decision to save. Educating the people and creating job opportunities improves saving habits in the community.
