摘要：As regiões Norte e Noroeste Fluminense historicamente se dedicaram ao cultivodo café, importante produto da história agroexportadora brasileira, e da cana-deaçúcar,em atendimento às indústrias açucareiras, que ao longo das décadas perderamseu dinamismo. Nesse contexto, as pastagens cresceram, tornando a pecuária uma dasprincipais atividades agrícolas dessas regiões; porém ela vem sendo conduzida combaixa tecnologia e produtividade, acarretando a degradação ambiental. Este trabalhoobjetiva propor a silvicultura como opção de desenvolvimento sustentável para asregiões Norte e Noroeste Fluminense. Foi possível verificar que as regiões possuemcondições socioeconômico-ambientais para a instalação de diversas espécies florestais,apoiada no fato que, se bem conduzida, essa atividade poderá gerar uma opção atraentede atividade econômica, além da preservação/conservação ambiental.
其他摘要：The Northern and Northwestern sections of Rio de Janeiro State have historically invested in coffee growing – an important crop in the agricultural and export history of Brazil, along with sugar cane plantations to meet the demands of the sugar industry which has, over the past decades, lost its dynamics. In this scenario, pastures have increased, making farming the major agricultural activity in these regions. However, this has been conducted with low technology and productivity, leading to environmental degradation. This paper proposes forestry as a sustainable development alternative for the Northern and Northwestern areas of the state. It was possible to verify that these regions have adequate socio-economic and environmental conditions for the installation of various forest species. If well managed, this activity can generate attractive economic initiatives, as well as environmental preservation and conservation.
