摘要:We propose the faculty social learning (FSL) approach, where faculties proactively engage in social encounters withuseful contacts (returning adult students with professional experiences, school alumni, college IT staffs, local highereducation faculties, and local business and IT professionals) to learn new ideas, technologies, trends, and knowledgefor the purpose of sharing them with students to enrich MIS courses. We can acquire new knowledge via informalconversations with contacts, and inviting experts as guest speakers to our classes. Moreover, out expertise can beimproved through participation in local professional, and social events where new contacts can be made and exposureto new technologies can be determined. We make a case for FSL based on adult self-directed learning theory,motivation theory, and social learning theory. We give detailed guide on how to conduct FSL from our first-handexperience. We also report our own examples of FSL and lessons learned.
