摘要:This research aims at discovering the effect of Problem Based Learning strategy combined with Jigsaw on critical thinking capability and cognitive learning outcomes of 10th-grade students in Jember. This research was conducted through pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group quasiexperiment design. The sample was taken by random sampling. The data was analyzed using anakova. The result showed that the learning strategy did not affect students’ critical thinking capability but significantly affect cognitive learning outcome in a negative way. The learning strategy lowers the cognitive learning outcome due to the failure of the teacher to implement the strategy properly.

Key Words : problem based learning, jigsaw, critical thinking Abstrak : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi Problem Based Learning dipadu Jigsaw terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas X SMA di Kabupaten Jember. Rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas X SMA di Kabupaten Jember tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik simple random sampling. Data dianalisis menggunakan anakova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran tidak berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis, namun secara signifikan menurunkan hasil belajar kognitif yang disebabkan oleh penguasaan pengajar yang kurang baik terhadap strategi pembelajaran yang diterapkan.
