摘要：Development of Intrusion detection system using various techniques has become an emergingtrend in research. This paper has explored the possibilities of developing network intrusion detectionsystem using association rule mining techniques by analyzing the NSL-KDD data set using associationrule to understand the behaviour and trend of network traffic especially the intrusive traffic. Support andConfidence are two popularly used association rule mining techniques have been used to calculate thefrequency and association among different network traffic features to unhide the hidden pattern andinformation of the intrusive network traffic. A rule has been generated in [IF-THEN-ELSE] format todetect network intrusion.
