  • 摘要:Researchers have been using polymers in asphalt mixes to improve both laboratoryand field performance properties of asphalt. Polymer asphalt were known to mitigatetraffic distresses and impart upon service life and durability of asphalt pavement. Thestudy focuses on Marshall Test as key laboratory quality control index of asphalt andon simple performance test (SPT) characteristics of High Density Polypropylene(HDPP) waste as measure of durability. The Hot Mixed Asphalt samples wereprepared using 0% (control), 0.5%, 1.0% and 1.5% HDPP fibre contents aspercentages of the total asphalt mixes. Based on Asphalt Institute recommendations of106ESAL for heavy traffic and optimum bitumen content 6.0% obtained, SPT’s wereconducted for rutting and indirect tensile strength to simulate field behaviour of thepolymer asphalt. An optimum content of 0.5% HDPP enhanced both Marshallproperties and SPT’s requirements of HDPP asphalt than the conventional asphalt(control) and could mitigate pavement failures.
