摘要:Introduction: Sepsis is a challenge to public health throwits high global mortality rate and because it is still a poorly understood disease. Protocols for its management are fundamental to provide care in a reduced time and to increase the chances of the patient survival. Objective: to present the implementation of the 'Assistance Protocol - Sepsis Management' developed at the Campos Gerais Regional University Hospital (HURCG) in Ponta Grossa, Parana, and the characteristics of the patients who were submitted to the protocol. Methodology: This is a descriptive and exploratory study performed at the HURCG Emergency Response, 2016. The elaboration of the protocol was focused on adult patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) criteria, sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock, and described by flowchart. The sample consisted of 50 patients and the data were analyzed descriptively. Results: The flowchartservice consists of the initial approach to the patient with sepsis, package 3/6 hours – hemodynamic optimization and optional package – optimization of central venous oxygen saturation / central venous pressure. The mean age was 66 years, 56% of whom were women. The symptoms of the most relevant SIRS criteria were hypotension (96%), leukocytosis (70%) and elevation of creatinine (76%). Immediate examination was present in 100% of the patients and the onset of antibiotic therapy in 74%, the prevalence of death was 72%. Conclusion: The implantation of the protocol was efficient and necessary for the early identification of the patients, qualification of the care and the characteristics of the patients consistent with the literature.
