摘要：This article focuses on slave labor in the city of Belém, capital of Province of Pará, in the 1870’s and 1880’s, the context of the crisis and abolition of black slavery in Brazil, highlighting three specific issues: the qualification of urban slaves, the places where they worked and ways were employed by their masters. Situated between the studieson urban slavery in the Americas, the analysis was based on documents of the judiciary power, newspapers, provincial presidente reports and speeches, among others.
