The Eighth Brazilian Congress of Education La escuela rural en Brasil (1930-1950). El Octavo Congreso Brasilero de Educación Resumo As reflexões apresentadas neste artigo resultam das pesquisas realizadas sobre a educação e o processo de escolarização na República Velha em Mato Grosso de 1930 a 1950. Por meio de estudos da história da educação, destaca-se a relevância política, cultural, social e educacional presentes nas discussões sobre a ruralização do ensino primário no Brasil durante o Oitavo Congresso Brasileiro de Educação, em Goiânia, GO, em 1942. Foram utilizados os anais do evento, como principal fonte, organizados pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, publicado em 1944, o Regulamento do referidoCongresso, as atas das sessões da Associação Brasileira de Educação e leituras correlatas que colaboram para a sustentação teórica desta reflexão. Palavras-chave: educação brasileira, educação rural, ensino rural, Mato Grosso Abstract The reflections presented in this article result from the researches I have been doing on education and their schooling process in the Old Republic in MatoGrosso from 1930 to 1950. Through studies of the history of education, I highlight the political, cultural, social and educational relevance in the discussions on the ruralization of primary education in Brazil during the Eighth Brazilian Congress of Education in Goiania/GO in 1942. The main source was the annals of the event. They were organized by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, published in 1944. The Regulation of the previously mentioned Congress, the minutes of the meetings of the Brazilian Association of Education and related readings contributed to the theoretical underpinning of this reflection .
