摘要:The paper is a personal analysis of the evolution of interpreting studies (IS) from its beginnings and until 2016. It started from within conference interpreting and had an exclusive and mostly elitist standpoint. Over the years, with geo-political and institituional developments, with the development of community interpreting, of internet and digital technologies and the socialization of Translation Studies into an academic community, IS has grown, has become more inclusive, has spread out worldwide away from traditional centers, has become less prescriptive, more exploratory, with better scholarship, which has opened up new possibilities for remote and geographically isolated researchers, but rigorous thinking and acting is still a challenge which requires constant attention.
