摘要:Software effort estimation is an important process of system development life cycle, as it may affect thesuccess of software projects if project designers estimate the projects inaccurately. In the past of fewdecades, various effort prediction models have been proposed by academicians and practitioners.Traditional estimation techniques include Lines of Codes (LOC), Function Point Analysis (FPA) methodand Mark II Function Points (Mark II FP) which have proven unsatisfactory for predicting effort of alltypes of software. In this study, the author proposed a regression model to predict the effort required todesign small and medium scale application software. To develop such a model, the author used 60completed software projects developed by a software company in Macau. From the projects, the authorextracted factors and applied them to a regression model. A prediction of software effort with accuracy ofMMRE = 8% was constructed.
