摘要：Através da estatística descritiva, de entre - vistas via telefone e e-mail e da análise da campanha de quatro candidatos, o artigo examina as características de 73 indígenas que concorreram nas eleições de 2014, ressaltando seus atributos sociais e partidários em comparação com o universo mais amplo de competidores. A análise dos dados revelou a concentração dessas candidaturas nas regiões Norte e Nordes - te, nos pequenos partidos de esquerda, e a alta escolaridade dos candidatos. O estudo evidenciou ainda que, em termos de atributos adstritos e adscritos, candidatos indígenas e não indígenas são muito se - melhantes entre si. Assim, não devem ser buscadas nessas diferenças as razões para o seu baixo desempenho eleitoral. Indígenas candidatam-se muito pouco a cargos de representação estadual e federal, sendo eles a etnia com o menor contingente em 2014. Isso pode indicar que eles tendem a fazer mais política em associações e organizações do “movimento indígena” do que por via da política institucional. Essa minoria é, politicamente, ainda mais excluída do que mulheres e negros, contudo, as causas dessa exclusão devem ser melhor pesquisadas.
其他摘要：Through the descriptive statistics of the data provided by the TSE, the interviews via phone and e-mail, and the analysis of four campaigns by 73 indigenous candi - dates, this article examines the charac - teristics of this group, emphasizing their social and party membership attributes in contrast to the broader universe of com - petitors. The data analysis indicated the concentration of these candidacies in the North and the Northeast Brazil, within small leftist parties, and the high educational level of the indigenous candidates. This study also shows that, in terms of adstrict and adscript attributes, indigenous and non-indigenous candidates are very similar among themselves. Thus, this is not where we should look for the reasons of indigenous’ candidates low electoral performance. Indigenous people rarely run for state and federal representation offices, and they represented the small - est contingent in 2014. This may reveal that they tend to conduct politics within “indigenous movement” associations and organizations rather than within institutional politics. Politically speaking, this minority is even more excluded than women and black people. However, the causes of such exclusion are still in need of further analysis.
