摘要：A finales del siglo XVI, Montaigne intenta expresar la realidad cambiante y vertiginosa de su tiempo (exploración de América, revolución copernicana, guerras de religion, etc) por medio de un nuevo artefacto expresivo y comunicativo al que dará el nombre de ensayo. Éste será el vehículo más representativo del pensamiento moderno, diferenciado del “tractatus”, la “summa” o la “relectio” escolásticas. En el siglo XX, con la consolidación de las ciencias sociales y la tranformación de la filosofía en hermenéutica, el legado del ensayo fundacional, el de Montaigne, se desplazará hacia la escritura periodística. Zweig, Kapuscinski y Pla, entre otros, asumieron esa herencia de manera explícita.
