摘要：Este artigo discute o embate político-religioso ent re Alfredo Freyre, pai do historiador-sociólogo Gil berto Freyre, e o movimento de Reação Católica em Pernamb uco, nas décadas de 1910 e 1920. O professor Alfredo, católico jansênico e maçom, se opôs ao pro jeto político de implementação do ensino religioso nas escolas, defendido pelos jesuítas, principais artíf ices do movimento de Reação Católica no Brasil e no Recife. Discutimos alianças entre jansenistas, protestantes e maçons contra a hegemonia política da Igreja Rom ana no Brasil, considerando a hipótese de que a atuação de Alfredo Freyre representou a luta interna no ca mpo católico entre movimentos e grupos antagônicos, sob retudo, entre jansenistas e jesuítas, tendo a educa ção como peça chave desta relação de forças. Assim, abo rdamos a interface política e religião, para demons trar como a cultura religiosa incide na cultura política , engendrando efeitos decisivos no acontecer social . Este trabalho situa-se no campo da História das Ideias P olíticas, considerando a confluência entre o subjet ivo, o religioso e o político na produção intelectual e no acontecer social.
其他摘要：This article discusses the political-religious clas h between Alfredo Freyre – father of the historian- sociologist Gilberto Freyre – and the so-called “Catholic React ion” movement in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco from 1910 to 1930. Professor Alfredo Freyre was a Jansen ist Catholic and Freemason, opposing the political project to implement religious education in schools defende d by the Jesuits, who were the main architects of t he Catholic Reaction movement in Brazil and in Recife. We discuss alliances between Jansenists, Protestan ts and Freemasons that went up against the political h egemony of the Roman Catholic Church in Brazil, considering the theory that Alfredo Freyre’s action s represented the internal struggle in the Catholic camp among antagonistic movements and groups, particular ly between Jansenists and Jesuits, with education playing a key role in the balance of power. We ther efore approach the political and religious interfac e in order to demonstrate how religious culture affects politi cal culture, with decisive ramifications on the soc ial sphere. The work is located within the field of the History of Political Ideas, due to its consideration of th e relationships between the subjective, the religious, and the poli tical in intellectual output and in the social sphe re.
