摘要:The main purpose of the research is to examine holistically the indicators that the university ranking institutions in the world have preferred in terms of the ranking criteria and to develop recommendations for the universities in Turkey. This is a case study in qualitative design. The data of the study have been obtained from ten institutions that have ranked universities worldwide. The data have been analyzed with document analysis technique. As a result of the analysis of the data, it has been determined that the ratios used in the university rankings and calculating the total score have similarities and differences. In terms of the methods and criteria, university ranking institutions are criticized in some respects in related researches. In addition it is necessary to rank universities transparently and objectively for the university ranking institutions. In terms of universities, it can be stated that these rankings can be used to develop universities. Finally, some recommendations for the universities in Turkey have been developed by considering the criteria and indicators used in university rankings around the world.
