摘要：The demands for better management of mineral resources require management of spatial information. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can be defined as a system of hardware, software and procedures designed to support the capture, management, manipulation, analysis, modeling and display of spatially-referenced data for solving complex planning and management problems [20]. Exploration of mineral resources has assumed prime importance in several developing countries including Jordan. Jordan is endowed with abundant mineral resources, which have contributed immensely to the natural resources with associated socio-economic benefits. The paper introduces a practical approach to developing a geo-referenced mineral resource system called (\The Jordanian Mineral Resources Geographical Information System (JMR-GIS)\). With JMR-GIS, different types of mineral resource information can be collected and combined to allow local users to visualize new relationships in GIS output maps. In general, GIS has been utilized in many industries in many countries, but the examples for the management of mineral resources in Jordan are rare. So, this work will be the first step to computerize mining of the Jordanian mineral resources.
