摘要：The Internet has spurred the popularity of online or virtual museums that preservehistorical heritages and promote traditional cultures. However, the contents of existingonline museums are often too professional for ordinary visitors to understand. Thissituation dampens visitor interest toward historical cultures or heritages, especially suchhistory beginners who often lack sufficient background knowledge.In this paper, we designed and developed a prototype system for online museums forbeginners based on an investigation of existing online museums and the cognitivism oflearning and social constructivism theories. Our proposed system has several points thatare different from existing online museums: (1) it illustrates artworks with multidimensionalinformation; (2) it integrates correlative information around artworks; (3) itlocates artworks on Google Maps based on their geographic information. Our onlinemuseum offers great help for history beginners and will facilitate a deeper understandingof history.
