  • 摘要:"e essays in the fourth volume of e Annual Review ofInterdisciplinary Justice Research re#ect upon and examinecritically the justice disciplines in Canada. In using this term,we refer to stand-alone postsecondary university degreeprograms and university research centres that are variouslytitled criminal justice, justice studies, police studies, as well asrelated programs such as law and security; indigenous peopleand law; criminal policy management; human justice; youthjustice; community, crime and social justice; justice and pub-lic safety; indigenous people and justice and the like. "e term‘justice disciplines’ encompasses several scholarly perspec-tives that focus on aspects of crime and criminal justice anddraws inspiration from John Crank’s (2003) argument that theproblematic of justice itself ought to be the unifying conceptat the heart of our scholarly endeavors. "us, no matter whatdepartment we $nd ourselves in, and despite the challenges inde$ning justice, we are united by a commitment to “a broader,more open-ended investigation into the nature of justiceitself” (Crank 2003: 14). We present this collection of essaysas an inclusive dialogue on the state of the justice disciplinesin Canada, re#ecting critically on our collective history whileidentifying some of the challenges that we face as universityeducators.
