摘要：O presente artigo reflete acerca do envolvimento dos índios no Ceará na Revolução Pernambucana de 1817. Convocados pelo governador da capitania para defender o monarca português, foram tratados como "valorosos vassalos" por quem os recrutava e se portaram como fiéis à Coroa. Em situações de confronto bélico como essa é possível refletir acerca dos significados indígenas da condição de vassalos lusitanos e das relações que estabeleciam com não-índios e os governos, estando em jogo seus estatutos legais e, consequentemente, suas condições de trabalho e a preservação de suas terras.
其他摘要：This article reflects on the involvement of the Indians in Ceará in the Pernambuco Revolution of 1817. They were summoned by the governor of the captaincy to defend the Portuguese monarch and were treated as "valiant vassals" by those who recruited them and behaved as faithful to the Crown. In situations of war conflict such as this, it is possible to reflect on the indigenous meanings of the status of Lusitanian vassals and the relations they established with non-Indians and governments, their statutes being at stake and, consequently, their working conditions and the preservation of Their lands..
