摘要:The origin of this article is the analysis of the intersections between literature and the tourist practice, in order to think about the cultural and identity dynamics that emerge from one of the most important phenomena today, tourism. The starting point for this study is a fieldwork that seeks to identify the presence and functions of literature in tourism materials about Portugal produced in the period between 1898 and 1989. The aim is to reflect on the new roles played by literature in the current global dynamics and its distinctive functioning in relation to other arts. The detected tendency to make invisible or to simplify cultural forms leads us to question about its implications in the identity of Portugal and its future consequences.
