摘要：Resumen : Este trabajo configura una reflexión historiográfica sobre el modo en el que los historiadores han estudiado la adoración a los emperadores romanos. En primer lugar se observan las principales características con las que esta manifestación cultual fue definida. Posteriormente se analiza la importancia de la obra de S. Price, Rituals and Power. The Roman Imperial Cult in Asia Minor , pues a través de la aplicación de teorías antropológicas este autor cambia de forma radical el modo de concebir el culto imperial. Como consecuencia, se detecta la influencia del trabajo de S. Price en las posteriores publicaciones dedicadas al estudio de la adoración a los emperadores en las provincias orientales (S. J. Friesen, B. Burrell, F. Lozano) y occidentales del Imperio (I. Gradel, M. Clauss). Finalmente, nos aproximaremos a las últimas formas interpretativas y la metodología que éstas plantean en el estudio de este nuevo culto (S. H. Versnel, R. Gordon, G. Woolf). Abstract : This paper presents a historiographical reflection about how historians have studied the worship of the Roman emperors. Firstly, the main characteristics which defined this cultural manifestation are presented. Secondly, the importance of the S. Price’s book - Rituals and Power: The Roman Imperial Cult in Asia Minor - is analysed. In this book the author by applying anthropological theories radically modifies the way the imperial cult is understood. Consequently, one can observe the influence of Price’s book in the following publications about the emperor worship in the oriental (S. J. Friesen, B. Burrell, F. Lozano) and occidental (I. Gradel, M. Clauss) provincials of the Empire. Finally, the last interpretations and their methodology in the study of this new cult is analysed (S. H. Versnel, R. Gordon, G. Woolf).
