摘要：Resumen : El presente trabajo ofrece una revisión sobre la vinculación de la devotio ibérica y el origen del culto imperial en Hispania. Esta relación la establece R. Étienne en su tesis Le culte impérial dans la Péninsule Ibérique . D’Auguste à Dioclétien , permitiéndole explicar la temprana implantación de la adoración a los Césares en la Península Ibérica. En este artículo, en primer lugar, se presentan las fuentes que documentan la existencia de la devotio ibérica y posteriormente se analiza el discurso argumentativo de R. Étienne, a través del cual pone en relación ambas prácticas (en él se identifica un estudio de la estructura social de los pueblos prerromanos, un análisis de la mentalidad guerrera que detecta en los mismos y un examen del culto que constata hacia jefes militares extranjeros). De este modo, se cuestiona la supuesta originalidad del caso hispano en cuanto a la existencia de la devotio y, por consiguiente, la validez de esta práctica como agente dinamizador del culto imperial en Hispania, una tesis mantenida en la actualidad por historiadores como D. Fishwick y L. A. Curchin. Abstract : This paper presents a review about the link between the Devotio Iberica and the beginning of the imperial cult in Hispania. This relationship was set up by R. Étienne in his dissertation Le culte impérial dans la Péninsule Ibérique. D’Auguste à Dioclétien which allows him to explain the early establishment of the imperial cult in the Iberian Peninsula. In this paper, at first, I present the sources which inform us about the Devotio Iberica and later I analyse the argumentation of R. Étienne which puts in relation both practices (in this part it is analyzed the social structure of the Hispania’s communities, the warlike mentality of this communities and their worship to the foreign chiefs). In this way, it is questioned the suppose originality of the Hispanic devotio and the importance of this practice as a revitalizing agent of the imperial cult in Hispania, a theory that D. Fishwick and L. A. Curchin support nowadays.
