摘要：This essay is an attempt to build a frame of argumentation for the discussion of imaginary geographies. These refer to specialized forms of power defined through the construction of an imagery of “the others” as its justification. The invention of “the others”, in this case related to all things Caribbean within the national context, entails the reproduction and perpetuation of a world-view inherited from European conceptions of culture, beauty, goodness, righteousness, dignity, civility, etc. The social reproduction of this world-view spreads by way of spatial configuration processes (where space is understood as both the result and determinant of social production), which find expression through the creation of territories or spaces of power. The creation of a space of power in the Colombian hinterland has pre-Hispanic origins, but with a clear characterization established in colonial times, under the influence of the Bourbon dynasty, which undertook the task of adapting the Enlightenment within their realm. Since those days, the story follows along the lines of Modernity proper, still in full strength.
