Increasing of vehicles in Bandar Hilir, Melaka are seen worsening. Coupled with the rapid development in the surrounding area, the quantity of vehicles in Banda Hilir, Melaka has increased. This makes the level of noise pollution in Banda Hilir, Melaka increasingly disturbing. This study identified the level of noise pollution in Banda Hilir, Melaka was caused by increasing number of vehicles. A total of 7 (seven) sampling locations were selected in the vicinity of Banda Hilir, Melaka. By using the Sound Level Meter (dBA), the maximum, minimum and the average noise value (Leq) was recorded and the number of vehicles are also recorded for all sampling locations. The results showed that Menara Taming Sari has the highest leq value of noise at 84.4 and Petronas Hujung Pasir has the lowest value at 68.4. Menara Taming Sari also recorded the highest number of vehicles with 131 vechiles and Petronas Hujung Pasir recorded the lowest number of vechicles with 72 vechicle. Statistical analysis using Pearson’s correlation showed the r value=0.8913 which means there is a significant relationship between noise level variable and number of vehicle variable. It is found that average traffic noise in Banda Hilir Melaka is higher than the standard set by the DOE of 65 dBA. Traffic noise issues that arise as a result of the development and urbanization processes should be taken seriously by the authorities in their planning strategies for sustainable city.
