Youths are important human capital, they are the future leaders who will contribute to the nation's success. To achieve the goal, youth need to be more responsible, caring and involved in community activities. However, today's youth were found to be less likely to get involved in volunteerism, especially at the community level. This concept paper discussed the factors that are expected to influence the involvement of youth in volunteerism. Based on the theory and findings of previous studies, this literature study suggests interpersonal communication, organizational communication and media communication as factors that can encourage youth engagement in volunteerism at community level.
