This research aims to familiarise history scholars and teachers about digital history, and its applications in the learning and teaching of the subject. This study draws upon the developments in the West on the digital applications and multidisciplinary approaches undertaken in the history discipline. While history remains the primary focus, the new digital approach incorporates the study of geography as well. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or Web-based Geographic Information System ( web-based GIS ) are the fundamental applications tools used in digital history projects. This research demonstrates the impact of adopting this innovative approach by history teachers in Malaysia in reinvigorating the teaching and learning of history catered to the needs of Generation Y. This research acquaints history instructors to a new approach that reshapes the teaching and learning of history by making it far more appealing to students and for enabling them to appreciate the pertinence of history in their daily lives. Furthermore, this new approach could bolster the development of the history discipline by providing avenues for collaborations with the government and private sectors in developing digital history projects for Malaysia.
