摘要：Social networks have been diversifying day by day and each individual prefers a social network according to his/ her purpose of use. In this study, it has been aimed to examine the purposes of secondary school students to use social networks. In order to determine the students’ purposes of using social networks, ‘Purposes of Social Network Usage Scale’ that was developed by Koçak-Usluel, Demir and Çınar (2014) has been applied on 1097 students in the spring semester of 2015-2016 academic year who are studying in the 5, 6, 7 and 8. grades of a public school in the center of Kırşehir. As a result of the research, it has been seen that secondary school students use social networks mostly for the purpose of doing assignments and the following purposes are social media and playing games. In addition, when the dimensions included in the scale have been considered, it has been seen that the dimensions of research, cooperation, establishing communication, maintaining communication, content sharing and entertainment are at a medium level.
