摘要:An experimental study was made to investigate the thermal performance of different rectangular finarrays such has continuous and interrupted fins. During the experiment the fin dimensions are (h=18mm, l=200 mm,w=99 mm S=9.5 mm and t=6 mm) and interrupt length are kept constant (G = 20mm), and the number of interruptswas varied from 1, 3 and 4. The experimental data’s are obtained by supplying constant heat of 80 W and by varyingthe Reynolds number from 30000 to 80000. Results show a significant increase in heat transfer coefficient, efficiencyand effectiveness for 4 interrupted fins with increase in velocity when compared to other models and in addition to thatthere is a remarkable reduction in weight of the heat sink when compared to continuous fins. So the fin with 4interrupts has a heat sink was recommended for use in order to dissipate heat more effectively, using forced convectionin heat transfer applications
