摘要:The purpose of this study was to use in situ water measurements combined with Landsat-8 OperationalLand Imager (OLI) data and ancillary data in a geographic information system (GIS) as a tool in deriving water qualityindicators of Bardawil Lagoon for sustainable management. The image acquisition dates were selected to be cloud-freeand to be as close as possible to water sampling campaigns (24 March 2014, 28 June 2014, 16 September 2014 and 5December 2014). The water quality of interest included, salinity (‰), pH and dissolved oxygen (mg/l). Reflectancevalues of OLI bands (B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6 and B7) and band ratios (B2/B3, B2/B4, B3/B1, B3/B2, B3/B4, B4/B1,B4/B2, B4/B3, B5/B7, B6/B5, B6/B7, B7/B5 and B7/B6) were compared with in situ measurements of water samples.Correlation and stepwise regression models were developed for each of the water quality parameter (WQP)measurements and the reflectance of image data. The results demonstrated that most of WQPs were significantlycorrelated well with OLI reflectance data (R0.50). Stepwise multiple linear regression models (P0.05) were used toquantify water quality dynamics and to prepare digital cartographic maps depicting the spatial distribution of waterquality over the entire study area for each date. The efficiency of the proposed algorithms was investigated based on thevalues of bias and root-mean-square error. Results of this study on applicability of Landsat-8 coupled with GIS forretrieval of water quality indicators are promising.
