  • 摘要:One of the most important applications of the solar energy is the Parabolic Trough Collector. During lastdecades until now; there are several promising developments in the field of the Parabolic Trough Collectors and theirapplications. In this research paper design, construction and testing of two Parabolic Trough Collectors fabricated fromthe available local materials has been experimentally investigated under local climate conditions of Sabratha City inLibya (latitude 32.8° N, longitude 12.5°E). Water is choosen as the heat transfer fluid, and the testing period taken from30th of December 2015 to 5th of April 2016. The testing results showed that the maximum instantaneous thermalefficiency reached 52.7% for a direct solar radiation of 243 W/m2 at a flow rate of 0.24 L/min at 10:00 AM on 4th ofJanuary 2016. Moreover, a maximum outlet temperature reached 88.1 °C for a direct solar radiation of 944 W/m2 at aflow rate of 0.24 L/min at 1:00 PM on 30 March 2016. Based on these results, Libya holds a real potential for the PTCtechnology to meet the increasing demand for water heating systems.
