摘要:In present scenario, different Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) are being developed for potentialapplications in aerospace and automotive industries due to their superior strength to weight ratio, high temperatureresistance, better corrosion and wear resistance. Among the developed MMCs, automotive industries are attractedtowards the use of aluminum silicon carbide metal matrix composites. In the present work five different compositionsamples of Al-SiC composites with varying weight fraction of SiC (i.e. 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%) were preparedby using sir-casting technique. Commercial aluminium and SiC powder (400 grit size) were used to prepare samples.Mechanical test included tension, compression and hardness test which were carried on Universal Testing Machine andBrinell hardness Tester respectively. In mechanical test analysis, tensile strength, compressive strength and hardnessvalues were found to be maximum for Al-15% SiC.
