  • 摘要:In the present study determine that the heavy metals such as Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Cadmium (Cd),Mercury (Hg), Chromium (Cr) and Iron (Fe) were analyzed in the Sediment samples. The sample analysis was done bymicrowave assisted digestion and Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The presence of heavy metals inbrackish water causes hazardous impact on the aquatic organisms. They are released in large concentration througheffluent discharges from fiber boat industry, dry fish form issue, metal processing, paints and pigment production,biocides production and through domestic sewage from nearby villages. The range of heavy metals in sediment (μg g-1)Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Chromium (Cr) and Iron (Fe) were: 5.03-42.3; 26.4-75.26;4.89-17.14; 0.012-0.112; 0.05-4.29 and 0.3-0.98 and 5.67-81.26; 26.45-69.32; 5.42-8.72; 0.016-0.163; 0.14- 5.2 and0.4-0.64 respectively.
