摘要：Schiff bases are aldehyde or ketone like compounds in which the carbonyl group is replaced by an imineor azomethine group. They are widely used for industrial purposes and also exhibit a broad range of biologicalactivities. Azomethine linkage of Schiff base plays an important role in medical field with so many pharmacologicalactivities such as antimicrobial, antiviral, antitubercular and anticancer activity. The potency of these pharmaceuticallyuseful drugs in treatment of microbial infections and other activities encouraged the development of some more potentand significant compounds and metal complexes. An interesting property of Schiff bases is their use as effectivecorrosion inhibitors.
