  • 摘要:Natural resources are biodegradable in nature as well as a rich source of active chemical constituteswhich are well known for their anti-corrosive property for metals. Lawsonia inermis leaves are found to be rich in mostof these organic compounds in addition to lawsone (2-hydroxy-1, 4-naphthoquinone), gallic acid, ascorbic acid, 1, 4-naphthoquinone, mannitol etc. The inhibitive action and adsorptive behaviour of Lawsonia inermis leaves (EELiL) onthe industrially used metals, viz. mild steel was explored by employing weight loss measurements in 0.5 M HCl. Theinhibition efficiency depends on the mechanical, structural and chemical characteristics of the adsorption layers formedunder particular conditions. Kinetic/ Thermodynamic treatment and surface morphological analyses (FT-IR, UV, SEM)were carried out to endorse the inhibitive and adsorptive tendency of the Lawsonia inermis leaves. The metaldissolution was mitigated to a very significant extent. Thus, these promising results lead us to explore the applicationsthe green inhibitor in metal surface anodizing and surface coatings.
