摘要:Advanced materials are being developed due to the increased improvement or enhancement in materialsciences like super alloys, ceramics and composites. Materials obtained through the development of the materialssciences are hard and difficult to machine, these advanced materials also poses barrier in smooth machining process intraditional machining process such as drilling, milling, grinding and turning. To machine these advanced materialsnon-traditional techniques are successfully used. Among most of the nontraditional techniques Wire ElectricalDischarge Machining (WEDM) is one of technique which is commonly preferred by industries for machiningoperations and producing the accurate and precise components. In this process very less amount of waste is producedafter the machining operation. This method of machining utilizes the heat produced through the spark initializedbetween work piece and wire, which are immersed in dielectric solution, Dielectric solution acts as the coolant forremoving or flushing the waste produced during the operation. Wire Electric Discharge Machining technique fulfillsthe requirement of the Industries which produces tools and machining. This technique is also an essential machiningtechnique to produce complicated cut outs without using high cost grinders and cutting tools. Review paper highlightsthe work on Wire Electric Discharge Machining, that research is oriented on newer aspects of WEDM in the field ofanalysis and optimization, mathematical models are developed to reduce the waste of removal of material whilefinishing process, cutting speed and surface roughness of WEDM process have been modeled etc.
