  • 摘要:This article gives a review on two global retrofitting techniques in the world; base isolation techniqueand Tuned Mass Damper, for manufacturing the buildings earthquake resistant. The properties of both structures arehighlighted. The aim of retrofitting technique is to improve the lateral strength of the structure and increase the strengthand ductility of structure. Earthquakes are one of the nature's most noteworthy hazards on our planet which have takenoverwhelming toll on human life and property since ancient times. This design of structures depends on certainparameters like ductility, deformation capacity, strength and amount of deflection. This paper deals with the review oftechniques applied in the design of earthquake resistant structures, which are- Base Isolation, Tuned Mass Damper.Principles and applications of these methods will be discussed under this study. This study will contribute to theconceptual data.
