摘要：This paper is a review on the methods of analysis suitable for lubricating oil in order to monitor thehealth of an engine.As an engineis subjected to very high temperature and pressure during combustion of fueltoproduce mechanical power, lubrication of engines is an extremely important aspect of engine operations. A goodlubricating system results in more efficient engines and increases their longevity. Lubricating oil can be analyzed toobtain thorough knowledge of the health of most of the components of an engine.Engine moving parts are lubricated tohelp in smooth operation of engine and to reduce the operating temperatures. The lube oil can be tested for itscontaminants and wear debris and analyzed to predict the engine parts failure in advance, so we can avoid catastrophicfailure. Various methods are used by investigators to analyze used lubricant properties to determine the enginecondition.
