摘要:This paper presents a study on the estimation of variation of air pollutant concentration in different areasbased on the type of activities carried out in a region and ascertaining the need of separate monitoring stations in theseareas. There are seven National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Stations (NAAQMS) in Ernakulam which monitorsRespirable Suspended Particulate Matter(RSPM), Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM),SO2 and NO2. Statisticalapproach consisting of Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was applied to determine whether there is any significantdifference in pollutant emissions between various monitoring stations. The temporal variation in the same period wasalso evaluated. ANOVA test helped in ascertaining the variation of pollutant concentration among the stations. Then,Tukey Kramer test was conducted to identify the stations which show significant difference in pollutant concentrationfor all the four pollutants. It was observed that in some stations there was no significant difference in pollutantconcentration. Hence separate monitoring stations in such areas can be reduced. This data can be used as a basis forselecting monitoring stations in an area.
