摘要:Cement mortar is a leading component of construction material used in infrastructure and most buildingworks. By the precipitation of calcium carbonate (caco3) in the existence of urea and a calcium source the strength ofthe cement mortar can be increased by bacteria. BACILLUS SPHAERICUS are useful to enhance the compressivestrength of cement mortar. Various tests like consistency and initial setting time are done to found the effect ofbacterial solution on cement. Compression strength test are favorable to find out the properties of cement mortar.Compressive strength (at 7-day and at 28-day) of mortar cube found to be increasing with the increase of bacteriaconcentration up to 107 cells/ml The optimum doses of bacteria found to improve the average compressive strength by58% (at 7-day) and 23% (at 28-day) over the control specimen. The more increase in strength after 7 day curing may bedue to the presence of vitamin medium and it getting depleted as it reaches 28 days and causing end of bacteria. Theminimum cumulative water absorption is achieved for a cell concentration of 109cells/ml.
