  • 摘要:This paper discusses the experimental work of heat and mass balance of Single Slope Solar Still andgiving ways to improve its performance. Experiments conducted over solar still with slope 26.8O (i.e. latitude angle ofthesite) and of basin areas 1 m2under the weather condition of Jaipur, Rajasthan, India during the month of March. Heatbalancing was done to analyze the heat involved, and its efficient utilization within the solar still along with the mass(vapor) loss. This paper also focuses on losses due to reflected solar radiation at glass cover, and their method ofevaluation. Measurement of temperature at various points, solar intensities, feed water, and distilled water production,were taken for several days at different operating conditions. These experiments were performed using tap water as afeed water. It hasfound that 15% of incoming heat has lost from walls (excludingglass surface), out of which 6% lossare from thebottom, heat carried by lost vapor accounted as 4%, and 9% loss as incident solar radiation reflects fromtheouter surface of theglass cover.
