摘要：การวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและทำความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับการให้ความหมายและกระบวนการ สร้างตัวตนของภรรยาฝรั่ง กลุ่มผู้ให้ข้อมูลเป็นผู้หญิงไทยที่แต่งงานกับชาวตะวันตก จำนวน 13 คน การวิจัยนี้เป็นวิธีการวิจัยเชิงปรากฏการณ์วิทยาแบบเฮอร์เมนิวติกซ์หรือการตีความของมาร์ติน ไฮเดกเกอร์ ผลการวิจัย พบว่า หลังจากที่ผู้ให้ข้อมูลได้เข้าไปสู่โลกของการแต่งงานกับชาวตะวันตก พวกเธอได้สร้างความเข้าใจใหม่ (New-understanding) เพื่อให้ตนเองสามารถดำรงชีวิตอยู่ได้ภายหลังการแต่งงาน ความเข้าใจใหม่ของภรรยาฝรั่งดังกล่าว แสดงออกมาในรูปของการสร้างตัวตนใหม่ซึ่งเป็นผลมาจากการเรียนรู้ และการหล่อหลอมประสบการณ์ที่ได้จากวิถีการดำเนินชีวิตในครอบครัวต่างวัฒนธรรม การสร้างตัวตนใหม่ดังกล่าว ได้แก่ 1) การปรุงแต่งตัวตนด้านการทำอาหาร หรือ “เสน่ห์ปลายจวัก” ตามคุณสมบัติ “แม่ศรีเรือน” ที่ดีในวัฒนธรรมไทย 2) การใช้ “ครัว” เป็นพื้นที่สานสัมพันธ์ท่ามกลางความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรมในครอบครัว This research aimed to study and to understand the definition and the process of self-creation of foreigner’s wives. The samples of the research, which were purposively and snow ball selected, included 13 Thai female informants. These informants were married to westerners, aged between 20-60 years, and had been married with or without a marriage certification at least 2 years and Chon Buri census registration was required. This research was a qualitative research using the Hermeneutic Phenomenology of Martin Heidegger. The findings showed that after entering into a new world by getting married with the Westerners, the informants established their new-understanding to be able to survive. The new understanding of the foreigners’ wives was expressed in the form of new self-creation as a resulting from their learning and experiences from the cross-cultural marriage. This new self-creation includes: 1) cooking as a self-creation enrichment or “having ideology of domesticity” based on a characteristic of “ideal housewife” in Thai culture. 2) using a “kitchen” as a space to create a relationship among different cultures in the family.
