摘要：In this paper some general postulates are laid down for the construction of diversity measures and conditions for ANOVA type of analysis are investigated. It is shown that a diversity measure called quadratic entropy introduced by the author in 1982, applicable to both qualitative and quantitative data, provides a general solution to both the problems posed above.
