  • 其他摘要:In the present work the seismic load is modeled by means of an excitation of the support given by an acceleration variable in the time domain. The Whole Element Method (WEM) is employed to find the dynamic response of two structural models: a SOOF system and a distributed parameter beam. In both cases the damping is taken into account. WEM consists in the statement of a pseudo Virtual Work using a particular sequence. The method has been previously developed by the authors for one-two- and three-dimensional boundary-value problems. Here a previous transformation of the time domain has to be carried out to handle a problem with only boundary conditions. The sequences are systematically stated both in the space and temporal domains and are uniform convergent series. The results may be obtained with arbitrary precision. The values of displacement, velocity and acceleration are compared with results obtained with the numerical technique "average constant acceleration". Also verifications with results from the finite element software ALGOR are performed. The use of WEM ensures the convergence of the results and is particularly convenient to handling discontinuities, as is the case here with the load.
