摘要:Spelling is defined as transposition of the language by standard rules. The spelling of a given vocabulary in a language based on the valid pronunciation of the period, and gets a different and new forms with the suffixes attached to the base. Language becomes standard by compromise on the use of people in verbal and written communication. This standardization may differ depended on the size of the territory on which the language is spoken, on the alphabets being used and finally on time. An aim of the language education at schools is to eliminate this differentiation and teach a common communication language. It is known that schools have not been successful with regard to this aim. Although there are other reasons, an important factor for this situation is that curriculums and teaching materials do not include enough teaching strategies and sample applications. In this study the activities of spelling teaching in Turkish lesson student workbooks were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. In addition, the activities related to teaching spelling found in teaching materials which are well accepted in literature have been compiled. Accordingly, content analysis of internet sites and teaching materials have been made, and the sample activities which are compatible with the properties of Turkish vocabulary and which are easy-to-use in the class and effective for teaching orthography have been introduced.
