摘要：While a considerable amount of attention has been devoted to webpage classification in general,understanding the importance of web content in the homepages of banking websites receive a very little focus fromresearcher community. With the growing trend in digitization, banking organizations have invested their money andeffort for bringing their business into the world of World Wide Web (WWW). Though each bank has their own choice,the designs of their websites are often outsourced to specialized web developers. Therefore, the use of security andreachability related features (like use of online social networks for direct customer engagement) in their homepages isoften controlled by third party, and hence a verification of certain expected and mandatory features in the homepages isessential. Machine learning is a powerful tool that is often used to categorize web content in an efficient way. Such atool can also help to maintain the quality and integrity of webpage’s in light of constant changes in their content. In thiswork, we have studied the security and reach ability features of the homepages of public sector banks in India usingwell known supervised and unsupervised machine learning models. The aim of this study is to increase the efficiencyand effectiveness of web content in banks home pages. We have collected the homepages of all 26 public sector banksat different time periods (one month apart) and investigated the consistency in the use of security based protocols (i.e.,like https) and hyperlinks to online social networks (like face book and twitter). Our analysis shows that the use of httpbased hyperlinks is the only major distinguishing factor for the banking homepages. Also, we have observed that manyof the banks are resistant to the use of online social media, and hence, it has significant impact on the classification.
