  • 摘要:Satellites in synchronous orbits exhibited unexplained behaviour of the electronic components presentwithin it. The reason being space charging phenomena wherein the satellites are charged to large negative voltages byenergetic electrons in the space environment. The space environment is plasma. In the recent years, on-orbit failure hasbeen an issue. It is believed to be caused due to internal charging effects i.e. charging and electrostatic discharge events.In this paper we discuss the effects of spacecraft charging, the mitigation methods already in use and alternativemethod to combat the aforesaid problem.
