  • 摘要:No structure is perfectly regular. Because it is impossible to avoid irregularity in a structure, it isimportant for designers to be aware of their effects and to consider them appropriately in design. Structures experiencelateral deflections under earthquake loads. Magnitude of these lateral deflections is related to many variables such asstructural system, mass of the structure and mechanical properties of the structural materials. Buildings should bedesigned so that they can resist earthquake induced deflections and internal forces. Structural irregularities areimportant factors which decrease the seismic performance of the structures. Buildings which have structuralirregularities may experience different drifts of adjacent stories, excessive torsion, etc. according to irregularity typeand fail during an earthquake. This paper is highlighting the effects of torsional irregularity on seismic behaviour ofstructures. Different buildings which have different number of floors and floor areas with different column size whichcause torsional irregularities in building are modelled by ETABS and calculations are made. Results are compared andprecautions are given to prevent torsional failure during earthquakes. We are also going to study the effect of infillwalls in structure to study the effect of infill walls in performance of building.
