摘要：This paper is a review on the condition monitoring of used lubricating oil, in order to monitor the healthof an engine. In automotive machine engine is subjected to high temperature and pressure during combustion.Lubrication of engines is a very important aspect of engine operations. The function of lubricating oil is toreducefriction, transfer heat, transmit power, protect against wear, prevent corrosion and seal for gases. So it is become veryimportant to monitor the health of lubricating oil at regular interval. The used oil can be tested for its wear debris andanalyzed to predict the engine parts failure in advance. Various methods such as spectrophotometric oil analysis, rotaryparticle depositor test, filter gram test, flash point fire point test, viscosity test, pH test etc. used by investigators toanalyze used lubricant properties to determine the engine condition.
