  • 摘要:Natural fibres such as jute were the forerunners of the man-made fibres used for centuries for makingropes and formanufacturing burlaps, sacks, hessian and carpet backing. But the use of jute products in civil engineeringis relativelywidespread for such purposes as sand-bags for concrete curing, soil enrichment and protection. Thisresearch is concerned with the stabilization of fine sand using jute geotextile as admixture. The work is regarding, howto make fine sand which has low compressive strength and thus has nil cohesion and high permeability, useful forconstruction of embankments for all engineering works and improves the engineering characteristics of soil. Thisanalysis discusses the potential of fine sand stabilization with jute is cut into approximately 20mm lengths asadmixture. Present work has been taken up by addition of 20mm jute pieces as admixture. The varying percentage0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2% of jute pieces of jute geotextile were mixed with fine sand of different densities and moisturecontent. All the Unconfined Compressive Strength Tests were conducted at different mix compositions of square piecesof plastic waste and fine sand of different dry densities as arrived from Standard Proctor Test. On the basis of theexperiments performed, it is determined that the stabilization of fine sand using 20mm pieces of jute as admixtureimproves the strength characteristics of the fine sand so that it becomes usable as construction of embankment.
